“Walk This Way” Singer Takes Wrong Step

Steve Tyler Injured After Fall From Stage At Aerosmith Concert in SD

Misfortune has once again struck the trouble filled Aerosmith tour. Singer Steven Tyler has been flown to hospital after falling from the stage during a show in South Dakota.

According to an AP report, Tyler, still on the mend from a recent leg muscle injury, tumbled backwards while dancing on the stage catwalk and fell into the crowd. Tyler had been entertaining the crowd at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally awaiting the repair of a technical glitch during the performance of “Love in an Elevator.”

Festival security pushed through the record crowd and assisted the shaken singer back to the stage.

Tyler appeared to have sustained injury to his head, neck and shoulder area, but the seriousness is not yet known.

He was helped backstage and the remainder of the show was cancelled.

According to witnesses, Tyler was joking with the doctor and in good fairly good spirits as he was being airlifted to hospital.

The Aerosmith tour has been plagued with bad luck since it began. In a revolving door fashion, Tyler, guitarist Brad Whitford, and most recently bassist Tom Hamilton have been sidelined due to health issues and injuries. The band had previously been forced to cancel multiple shows on their tour schedule when the 61-year-old Tyler pulled a leg muscle at the outset of the tour.

Joe Perry had been recovering from a knee injury sustained early in the year. Whitford suffered a head injury after whacking his head while exiting his car, and Hamilton is currently sitting out while recuperating from non-evasive surgery.

The 57-year-old bassist was forced to miss tour dates in 2006 while undergoing a seven-week course of radiation treatment for throat cancer.

Whitford had only just returned to the tour when Hamilton was sidelined.

David Hull, a bassist with the Joe Perry Project, has been sitting in with Aerosmith during Hamilton’s absence.

The band’s next scheduled tour stop is in at the Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, MB Canada on Friday (08/07) – my hometown!

Yes, I have tickets for the show.

The band has been trying to persevere and kudos have to be given to Steve and his bandmates for taking the attitude “the show must go on!”

But fans and organizers are left scratching their heads.
Could this be Aerosmith’s final tour?

There has been no official word whether there will more tour cancellations due to Tyler’s injury.
Hopefully, Steve’s OK and will healthy enough to perform again soon.

Fingers crossed.
